Senior AI Researcher & Engineer
Jihwan Bang is currently a Senior AI Researcher at Qualcomm AI Research, where he leads cutting-edge research projects in artificial intelligence and machine learning. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Prior to joining Qualcomm in 2023, he was an AI Researcher at NAVER from 2019 to 2023, where he developed FaceSign identity authentication systems and efficient AI pipelines. His research focuses on developing efficient AI models for edge devices, with emphasis on face recognition, face spoofing detection, and portrait segmentation. He specializes in Active Learning and Continual Learning techniques, with recent interests in Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Large Language Models, and Vision Language Models. Mr. Bang has published extensively in top-tier venues including CVPR, ICCV, ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, ACL, EMNLP, and NAACL, and serves as an active reviewer for major conferences.
